Music Our music program is a vital part of our community of faith. The Senior Choir, under the direction Music Director Victoria Wagner, sings most Sunday mornings from September through May. Adults and high school students who enjoy singing and are willing to commit to rehearsals and services are warmly welcomed.
The choir's repertoire ranges from renaissance motets to spirituals, from classical masterworks to jazz, and from works of Buxtehude sung in German to African songs sung in the Zulu or Bantu languages. Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings and prior to Sunday worship. There are opportunities for short term participation, such as Advent-Christmas, or Lent-Easter, or "Sunday-only Choir" (without midweek rehearsals). There are also opportunities for solos or small ensemble singing.
The Junior Choir (grades 2-6) is under the direction Emily Roos, a professionally trained flutist and music teacher. During the academic year, they sing for church monthly and rehearse on Sundays after worship. They learn not only anthems, but also hymns and general musical skills. Instrumentalists from our own church community and professional musical circles also enhance our worship. They accompany the choir, play the prelude or postlude, or provide musical leadership for the entire service.
